Myles Ray Bruce

A little about me
Hi! I'm Myles Ray Bruce, a performer, songwriter, dancer, storyteller, who believes that theatre is one of the best ways to connect with people and share something that comes from the heart.
My friends would describe me as gentle, caring, kind, sassy, and funny-and I have found that all of those qualities tend to lead to my performance as an actor. Acting has always felt a little like therapy to me, since I first learned of this art form, when I was 9 years old. It provides me a place to escape, explore different parts of myself, and express something in my heart that needs to be shared. I especially enjoy playing comedic roles, while also finding the realism and heart underneath the humor.
Performing is only part of what I love about theatre. For the past three summers, I have taught youth theatre dance at the Erie Playhouse and discovering how much I enjoy working with-and wrangling after recess-young performers has brought me so much joy. I love watching my kids gain confidence, find their creativity, and discover how much they're capable of.
Outside of acting, you'll probably find me listening to Cher or Dolly Parton-R.I.P-writing songs and playing them on my piano, sewing on the sewing machine my grandmother gave to me, or getting together with friends for a good board game. I'm also passionate tap dancer and love combining dance, music, and acting whenever I can. I'm able to sing while accompanying myself on piano, and I love finding new ways to create.
I grew up on a small farm surrounded by the cornfields of Pennsylvania. I loved my childhood there, but I'm excited for my next chapter and the adventure of living in a big city. At 6'5", I definitely tend to stand out in a room-and I've learned to embrace that as a part of what makes me unique.
What inspires me most is seeing the journeys of other artists: Their roles they played, the opportunities they got (and didn't get), and the way every experience helped shape their lives. My ultimate goal isn't simply to be successful in theatre-it's to build a lifestyle where I'm constantly creating, performing, learning, and enjoying the journey. One day, I hope to play some of my dream roles, while also writing and producing my own plays and musicals.

For me, theatre isn't something I just do. It's a place where I feel most like myself, and I'm excited for what's next in store
